In
1976 -thirty-five years ago-, Carles Cañellas -founder
of Rocamora Teatre-, he saw a show to Pepe Otal and his
"Grupo-Taller de Marionetas" in La Rambla of Barcelona.
Pepe was acting with a marionette representing a snake charmer.
The puppet, dress to the style Hindu and with turban, sitting
on the floor, are playing a flute with the two hands. In
front of him there was a basket, from where went out one
cobra that it moved with slow undulations, following the
rhythm and the movements of the hypnotic flute...

When
finishing the brief performance, Carles he see that in front
of him had opened a door that had to cross immediately. What
he had seen had impressed him much deeply: The marionette
no only had charmed to the snake, but also to himself. Although
then was fulfilling the compulsory military service, he spent
the rest of the permission of the that enjoyed these days,
more all those that had until to discharge, in the "Taller
de Marionetas" like member of the group, learning to
build and manipulate, and also playing in the street with
these "scenic objects" that had attracted him of
way so sudden and intense.
